Premier League Saturday Fixtures

The Premier League is getting more and more interesting to follow even this early in the season. There are some seriously interesting matches to catch this Saturday, and we are going to take a look at them in this article.

The highlight of this Premier League weekend is of course the match between Manchester United and Everton. The two teams have been rivals for quite a while now, especially after Manchester United bought Wayne Rooney from Everton in 2004. Add Rooney’s current personal issues to the rivalry and you have one intriguing match for sure.

Arsenal will be playing Bolton Wanderers this Saturday. It is a key match for Arsenal as they try to take the lead off Chelsea. Chelsea, on the other hand, will be playing West Ham United the same day. Chelsea is currently leading the Premier League with a total of 9 points from three matches; will West Ham be strong enough to stop Chelsea’s undefeated record?

Aside from the matches we discussed earlier, there are also some other equally interesting matches to catch. Fulham will be playing against Wolverhampton and Manchester City is up against Blackburn this Saturday. Newcastle United is looking forward to their match against Blackpool, while West Bromwich Albion will be fighting Tottenham Hotspur and attempt to enter the Premier League’s top 10.

Last but certainly not least, we have the match between Wigan Athletic and Sunderland scheduled the same day. This will be an interesting Premier League weekend indeed, so make sure you stay tuned for more updates right here on this site.

Everton vs. Manchester United Preview

We have another important match to look forward this weekend; Manchester United will be playing Everton in one of the most anticipated matches of this season’s Premier League. Last year’s match result should be a good lesson for Manchester United and the team’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson, especially because they were literally slaughtered by Everton players with an end result of 3-1 for Everton.

Wayne Rooney will most likely play against his former club despite of the personal debacles and issues surrounding his personal life. Everton’s top midfielder Jack Rodwell, on the other hand, will not be playing in this highly-anticipated match due to his injuries. Louis Saha will also be absent from this match.

Everton is very determined to get their first win of the season, so they will surely play with more motivations and high spirit. With the fans supporting the team in this home match, the morale boost will certainly be helpful in enhancing Everton’s preparedness. Goodison Park was never friendly for Manchester United, but the team is currently in a good trend and will try their best till the very last second.

Possible result? It is very possible for this match to end in a draw. Both teams have injured key players and relatively similar strengths on the field, and although Manchester United might seem to be a bit more prepared, Everton gains better morale from the support of their fans; Everton is currently in the relegation zone and will be more motivated to score a full point.

Jack Rodwell’s Out for Three Months

Everton’s fans must deal with a shocking blow after their favorite midfielder Jack Rodwell was injured badly in a match against Aston Villa last month. The serious injury is reported to be the cause of Rodwell’s absence in various important matches, and the midfielder will continue to be out for the next two or three months.

Rodwell suffered ligament damage and the fact that it was not diagnosed quickly enough made the injury harder to deal with. Rodwell now needs to undergo a series of physiotherapy sessions in order to recover from the severe injury.

“He’s out for two to three months. A surgeon checked it and he doesn’t need surgery,” manager David Moyes said. Not having Rodwell on the field is certainly a big blow for Everton, especially since they are looking at some very important matches the next several weeks.

The official announcement made by doctors who are handling the 19-year-old midfielder’s injury stated that complete recovery is possible and that no surgery is needed. It is safe to say that Rodwell will be able to return to the field at his best in a matter of three months. He has all the time in the world to recover and he will return to the Premier League to further improve his career.

Similar injury stopped the career of Marouane Fellaini last February, but Fellaini’s injury was worse and required surgeries to be conducted in order to help the midfielder recover from it. He lost six months and is currently trying to find his best form still.

Wayne Rooney Asks for Some Space

It has been a tough week for Wayne Rooney, Manchester United’s leading striker, after a series of media debacles and serious violations of his privacy. He finally made an official statement, accompanied by his wife Coleen, and asks for some space as well as respect for his privacy.

“The last six days have been extremely painful for us and for our families,” Wayne and Coleen Rooney said in their statement. The media has been quite harsh the past several days indeed, giving little to no space for the family to resolve their issues in private.

Only a few days earlier, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson also refused to talk about his player’s personal issues. Manchester United is looking at an important match against Everton – Rooney’s former team – this weekend and Rooney’s personal issues have been the highlight so far.

The same response was shown by Everton’s manager David Moyes when asked about Rooney’s personal matters. He quickly dodged the question by stating that only gossip journalist should ask that kind of questions and that football journalist should only ask about the upcoming match against Manchester United.

Everton fans have always been blunt towards Rooney, and many fellow players are worried about the welcome and responses Rooney will get. Last year’s meeting was indeed quite bad, and this year is expected to be even worse now that Everton fans have more issues to throw at the former Everton young star. Either way, this week’s match will be interesting indeed.

Premier League Results Summary

Last Premier League weekend turned out to be quite interesting for sure. There were some interesting matches and rather surprising results from the matches held last week, and we are going to summarize them briefly in this article. Let’s get started, shall we?

Aston Villa successfully improved their position in the Premier League table after defeating Everton 1-0. The team is now in 4th place just under Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United. The only goal for Aston Villa was scored by Young, who showed great performances in this match.

Fernando Torres scored the only goal for Liverpool – and the only goal in the match – when the team played against West Bromwich Albion last week. The match ended with 1-0 victory for Liverpool, improving the team’s place in the league to 13th.

Theo Walcott scored the first goal for Arsenal in a match against Blackburn. It was Diouf who scored an equalizer for Blackburn and ended the first half with 1-1 draw. Arsenal wasn’t going to let Blackburn steals a point from them that easily, and the efforts turned out to be quite successful. Arshavin scored another goal for Arsenal only 11 minutes into the second half, and Arsenal’s victory was quickly locked.

Chelsea won their third match of the season, continuing their series of undefeated runs. They won 2-0 against Stoke, with Malouda and Drogba each scored one goal for the team. Manchester United also came out victorious after defeating West Ham United with a whopping 3-goal lead, while Manchester City showed a spectacular performance by defeating Liverpool with also a 3-goal lead.

Bobby Zamora to Stay in Fulham

As one of the future England strikers, 29-year-old Bobby Zamora is currently out with a thigh injury. He showed interesting performances in his debut match for England against Hungary last August, and many eyes will be watching the future of his career closely. Not wanting to miss out on the chance of hiring one of the best strikers in the Premier League, Fulham confirmed the signing of a 4-year extension that will keep Zamora in the team until 2014.

Zamora helped Fulham reach the Europa League final last season and scored a total of 19 goals. Fulham also finished 12th in last season’s Premier League thanks to Zamora’s fantastic performances. There were rumors about Zamora moving to another team, especially since his contract with Fulham is scheduled to end this year.

The striker is now in his way to recovery and he is more than eager to show great performances after signing the 4-year contract extension. His performances showed in the clash between Fulham and Juventus was indeed spectacular, turning a 1-4 defeat into a 5-4 victory for Fulham.

Many Premier League critiques and experts are stating how Bobby Zamora is highly underrated, especially by those who don’t watch this sharp striker regularly and closely. Zamora, however, stayed modest when confirming his contract extension by stating that the team needs to stay together for the benefits of Fulham.

Will Zamora show more spectacular performances? We will definitely find out soon as we go deeper and deeper into this season’s Premier League.
